About
I am a senior executive with extensive global experience in credit, fraud, compliance and operational risk management, and success in leading the integration of multiple corporate acquisitions. Recognized for introducing credit and risk management best practices and thinking, and for thought leadership more broadly, as a member of leadership teams. Valued for integrity, strong interpersonal skills, always taking an enterprise view, great partnering, and executing the best ideas regardless of source.
My approach has always been influenced by two principles drawn from reading I did as a student, including political and military history. The first is that while winning in the short term is important, sustained success requires consistent investment in creating a foundation for the future. It’s a critical balance that many organizations struggle with as the daily inflow of information we receive is typically heavily weighted toward, and focuses attention on, shorter term priorities. The second lesson is the importance of prioritizing teamwork over individual objectives, of a coordinated approach versus disjointed individual - even if heroic - efforts. Aligning differing views across a team can be challenging however I keep in mind a line from a poem I came across as an undergraduate – “There’s nothing worth the wear of winning, but laughter and the love of friends”.
